Each week during the high school sports season the High School Sports Examiner and Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations to Marc at email@example.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 166 past athlete of the week winners.
This week, we had four Rowell’s Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Alex Allain powered the Hermon Hawks girls soccer team to playoff wins over Mt. View and Presque Isle. The Hawks will travel to Oceanside for the class B north regional final. Karigan Coffin earned runner up. Coffin scored all five goals in a 5-1 Searsport class D south victory over Vinalhaven.
Mackenzie Carter scored four goals and one assist to lead the Ashland girls soccer team to a quarterfinal win over Wisdom. The only field hockey nomination this week came from Sabrina Jandreau of Winslow high school. Jandreau powered the Black Raiders to a class B regional final win over Gardiner. She scored all the goals for Winslow in a 3-1 victory.
Alex Allain Hermon – soccer- recorded a hat trick in 5-0 victory over Mt. View in class B north quarterfinal. Scored the game winning goal in overtime in 2-1 class B semifinal win over Presque Isle. Allain is the third Student/athlete from Hermon high school to be named athlete of the week. She joins Karli Theberge and Tyler Thayer. Theberge has earned the honor five times.
Karigen Coffin-Searsport- soccer- scored five goals in 5-1 class D quarterfinal win over Vinalhaven.
Sabrina Jandreau- Winslow- field hockey- recorded a hat trick in 3-1 victory over Gardiner in class B north final.
Mackenzie Carter- Ashland- soccer- recorded four goals and one assist in 8-1 win over Wisdom in class D north quarterfinal game.
