Each week during the high school sports season the High School Sports Examiner and Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 168 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had four Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Jake Jarvis and Andre Miller powered Old Town football to a class C semifinal victory over Foxcroft. Ricaija Simmons lifted eventual state champion Washinghton Academy past Central in the class C north regional final. Willie Moss scored five touchdowns, all in the first in leading MCI to a 76-27 class D semifinal win over Orono.

Jarvis joins Garrett Libby, Ethan Swedberg, Kendra Hayward, Rachel Martin, Eric Hoogterp, and TJ Crawford as student/athletes from Old Town high school that have earned athlete of the week honors.

Down East Limousine male athlete of the week

Jake Jarvis- Old Town- football- threw for 289 yards and five touchdowns in 38-7 class C semifinal win over Foxcroft.

Runner up

Willie Moss- MCI- football- rushed for 189 yards and four touchdown, plus he added a receiving touchdown, all in the first half in 76-27 class D semifinal win over Orono.

Other nominations

Ricaija Simmons- Washington Academy- soccer- scored two goals in 6-0 class C northern regional final victory over Central.

Andre Miller- Old Town- football- had 149 yards and three touchdowns on five catches in 38-7 class C north semifinal win over Foxcroft.
